Brief History

Naga Hope Christian School, formerly Hope Christian School is a non-stock, non-profit, non-sectarian and co-educational institution.

The idea to open a Christian school in Naga City was born in 1954 by some Elders and Deacons of the United Evangelical Church of Naga City (UECN). Foremost to their vision is to provide quality education, minster to the spiritual needs and help remedy the moral degeneration of our society. But due to the limited resources, the idea was not pursued for 4 years.

In 1958 a free tuition kindergarden was opened as a branch of Hope Christian High School, Manila by Rev. Robin Chua with a batch of 30 children. The school was named Naga Hope Christian Kindergarden. Teachers and the principal served voluntarily and heartily.

The management of the school was placed in the hands of the trustees composed of Bro. Dy Yok as Chairman, Mr. Dy Chiao Yok as Vice-Chairman and Mrs. Dy Yu Kun Giok as Head Teacher. In June 1960, Grade 1 was offered and the school name was changed to Naga Hope Christian School.

In 1965, two kindergarden classes and a complete elementary were offered. In the same year, the school was granted recognition by the Bureau of education and the Chinese Embassy in Manila. In 1982, the Board saw the need to open the elementary level in order to accommodate the elementary graduates who prefer to stay with the school.

In 1984, the First Year High School was opened, Second Year in 1985, Third Year and Forth in the following year.

From 1958 to 1985, the school had been using the church site, building and facilities in Tabuco, Naga City to accommodate the students. But on February 25, 1986, the new school site at Panganiban Drive, Naga City was opened. This was made possible through the efforts of Rev. John Pan, Mr. Oscar Ong, and Robert Tan, and through the generosity of Mr. Ung Han Liong, Mr. Go Pin Sing, and Mr. John Ong.

In March 1986, the consistory board of the United Evangelical Church of Naga financed the construction of a new one-story building that includes 7 classrooms. This was made possible thanks to the assitant of Elder Shangknan and Arch. Philip Recto of the United Evangelical Church of The Philippines. In 1988, another group of Christian members from Manila financed the construction of a new building and in 1990 another new building was finished.

Since that time on, the school continued to grom in enrollment, facilities and in academic achievement. The school consistently achieved 100% passing in the National College Entrance Exam (NCEE) since the first secondary students graduated. In May 2002, the school attained her acredited status granted by the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities Accrediting Agency Incorporated (ACSCU-AAI), a member of Federation of Accrediting Agency of The Philippines (FAAP).

In May 2012, in recongnition of the school's continuing commitment to quality education undergirded with faithful Christian values towards institutional and national growth and development the ACSCU-AAI granted our school the Level II Reaccredited status.

For all these blessings, the school recognizes the helping hand of God, to whom the Board, Staffm and Administration accredit.

To God be all the glory!

Statement of Faith

  • We believe that the bible is composed of the 66 books of the Old and New Testament, is inerrant and verbally inspired of God in all its parts, and is supreme and final authority in Christian faith and living.

  • We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections.

  • We believe that the the Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, become man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men.

  • We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Triune God and who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and that He baptizes and indwells all believers, sealing them unto the day of redemption at the moment of their regeneration.

  • We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam’s sin the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God; and, that unregenerate man is spiritually dead, and utterly unable of himself to remedy his lost condition.

  • We believe …that salvation is the gift of God brought to man wholly by grace alone and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of sins, and that apart from Christ there is no possible salvation.

  • We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power, secured in Christ forever, and guaranteed never to perish; and, that it is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of salvation through the testimony of God’s Word, which, however, clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an occasion to the flesh.

  • We believe that every saved person possesses two natures — the old and the new nature and that although the old nature can never be eradicated in this life, provision has been made for victory of the new nature over the old nature through the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit.

  • We believe that a New Testament church is a local body of born- again believers associated together for worship, observance of the ordinances of the church, and the spread of the Gospel to all the world. All true Christians are also members of the Universal Church which began at the Day of Pentecost.

  • We believe that there are two ordinance which believers are to observe until He comes—Believers Baptism and the Lord’s Supper; and that the immersion of a believer in water baptism in the name of the Father, Son and holy Spirit sets forth the essential facts of redemption (the death and resurrection of Christ) and also the essential outlook of the believer death to sin and alive unto God.

  • We believe in the personal existence of Satan, the great adversary of God and His people, who is judge at the cross and whose final doom is certain; and, that Christians are able to resist and overcome Satan and his demons through the blood of the Lamb and the whole armor of God.

  • We believe in the imminent return of the Lord for His church efore the Seven Year Tribulation Period, and in His subsequent glorious and visible return to the earth with His saint to establish His millennial kingdom.

  • We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men — the saved to eternal conscious bliss with the Lord, and the unsaved to everlasting, conscious punishing in the lake of fire.
